Dance

Waltzing with words, a mind in confusion
Baring the soul seems a foregone conclusion
This tune is for you, tho' perhaps you don't know
I never did tell you I fell for you so long ago

But it still seems like yesterday now
I must have let on, 'cause you caught me somehow
Dinner, a movie, a glass of champagne
Then out on the dance floor for one quick refrain

Like a dream that could somehow come true
Finding myself gliding out on the dance floor with you

Perhaps there are thoughts that you never should tell
'cause some folks get scared goin' deep in the well
I've heard it said some folks would rather be free
But I can't help thinking that I'd rather like to be

Spending my life waking up to your face
Your voice and your body, whatever the place
For now let's just float in a moment of bliss
The anticipation before a first kiss

Like a dream that could somehow come true
Finding myself gliding out on the dance floor with you

Flying along on the wings of a song you can soar
Gravity's gone, yet it's pulling like never before

Inst.

Flying along on the wings of a song you can soar
Gravity's gone, yet it's pulling like never before

And almost as soon as the evening begins
The clock, it strikes twelve, and the world beneath spins
He makes a decision, swallows his pride
Down on one knee and he asks her -- 'Will you be my bride?'

And it seems an eternity still
The girl finally smiles, and she answers -- 'I will.'
And many years later, the couple still dance
And now & again turn to thoughts of romance

Like a dream that could somehow come true
Finding ourselves striding out on the dance floor,
No longer having to ask -- 'What's romance for?'
Taking a chance on a dream as lovers still do
