Someone Else's War

© Richard Goldman, 2008

Eight long years are almost up
And somehow still we stand
Countless terror red-alerts
The hawks-in-chief command
But now we have a chance to bring this madness to an end
So take the time to get it right and help the country mend

Chorus:
'Cause I don't want our boys & girls in someone else's war
Keep your mass deception -- I've heard it all before
If someone takes a shot at me then I'll shoot back myself
But 'til that time I'd rather keep the weapons on the shelf

Constitution's abrograted, rights have gone to hell
With this talk of rendition I'm glad I'm not in a cell
'War on terror' makes a perfect sound bite for the news
And you're unpatriotic if you have opposing views

Chorus 'Cause I don't want our boys & girls in someone else's war ...

A man with less than half the vote sent children off to die
The Congress and the Senate said 'Okay'
The politics of fear hold sway
It's just like Joe McCarthy's day
And if you said "Joe who?", perhaps that's why

Many far less lucky are now buried in their graves
Put there by some creep who likes to preach that Jesus saves
A Veep who goes out huntin' & shoots people in the face
I think it's time to clean the White House -- fumigate the place

Chorus (x2)
'Cause I don't want my boy dragged into George's dirty war ...
No, I don't want our boys & girls in someone else's war ...
