Song for all Reasons

(recording pending)

A song to please, a song if you dare
One for every reason, one for us to share
A song of love, one for the road
One to rise above, one to ease the load

Sing a song of sixpence, sing of mystery and time
Sing a song of history, sing a silly rhyme
A song for every reason as we travel ‘cross this land
A song to get together, and one to lend a hand

A song of joy, a song of peace
One of wide-eyed innocence, one of sweet release
A solemn song, one for a lark
One to keep you company when you’re walking in the dark

Sing a song of beauty, sing a song of rock & roll
One to tear your heart apart, one to make it whole
A song for every reason as we wander round this earth
Sing a song to celebrate the miracle of birth

A sacred song from long ago whose name is not allowed
One for the fighter, bloody but unbowed
Sing a song of solitude, one without a word
Screaming in its silence, longing to be heard

A song that’s kind, one running wild
One to loose the beast within, one to calm the child
A song of truth, one for when you roam
A song of Hallelujah, and one to bring us home

Sing a song of pride and sing to make the demon weep
Sing a song to save your soul, pull you from the deep
A song for every reason, one for every age
A song to which we raise a glass, and one to set the stage
